Authority Is Given For Edification ~ 2 Corinthians 10:8

"Therefore I write these things...according to the power which the Lord has given me to edification and not to destruction."                       2 Corinthians 13:10

The authority or the power the Lord has given to His people has purpose. That purpose is to advance His Kingdom. As citizens of that Kingdom, we have a responsibility to live in a way that honors the King, glorifies Him and strenthens His domain. When we build up each other the entire body of Christ is made stronger. Each part is better able to supply their portion to the whole. In so doing, consistently, gladly and purposefully we are all enhanced.

"But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."  Ephesians 4:15-16

These verses show us that the power of edification is wrought through LOVE. The authority we have was given to us in Love, because of Love, to demonstrate His Love. The Love of God strengthens and enables. The "Authority To Edify" has been entrusted to every believer to facilitate the fulfillment of our divine assignments. Use your authority to make someone's life easier, their day brighter and their load lighter. Two hands washing dishes or completing a building project make the task so much easier than one hand working alone. We are one body working together. When we support each other as the Word shows us, frustration is bound, exhaustion is limited, unity is developed and hearts are made glad.

"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God."  Ephesians 3: 17-19
